I will translate dutch to flemish

I will translate dutch to flemish

About:

Even though the Dutch and the Flemish people share the same language, there are subtle but important differences in applying it. These differences are essential and conditional if you want e.g. your marketing campaign to become a success.

Allow me to illustrate:
  • Something is "clear" (= well understood). In the Netherlands people say "Helder", whereas Flemish people barely use this. In Flanders, the most common response is: "Duidelijk".
  • Orange juice. The correct word is: Sinaasappelsap. Dutch people adore words that are derived from French. That is why they presumably will ask for a "jus d'orange". In Flanders, we tend to call it "fruitsap" (fruit juice).
  • French fries are called "Frieten". In the Netherlands, people always look for "patat".
  • I found a list on the internet, that contributes to this picture. It is not 100% accurate (like leugenaar, centrifuge and more), but it does offer an excellent impression of the differences that we face: http://www.gatsby.nl/Leren/Foefelen-zabberen-kurieuzeneus-de-49-gezelligste-Vlaamse-woorden-op-een-rij

As a native Belgian person with strong ties with the Netherlands (from a professional point), I can help you out with anything!
